the artist project
a couple of weeks ago i attended the artist project here in the city. i went to support my beautiful, talented friend rebecca wood. her installation was completely breath taking. this perfect mixed media ensemble of photography and film. her subjects were nothing short of stunning and her colour scheme was pale, fresh and inviting. hire this girl..fast!
i perused the fair and was intrigued by a few emerging artists. all so very friendly and hungry for feedback and ultimately the sale of one of their pieces. i was admittedly disappointed in the lack of overall creativity and diversity at the fair. many of the artists showcased similar types of art and style. the subjectivity that art is only means that others may have felt completely inspired and desired making a purchase, the aesthetic of most, was not entirely for me.
i was pleasantly surprised by the exception that is Maureen Oconnor. it helped that she photographs interiors, but it was her captures that completely slayed me. dilapidated rooms, raw and full of texture, insanely creative.
until next year.
