the moody, artistic home of Alexander Ekman
I am always intrigued by creatives and artists home. I often wonder what adorns their spaces. Do they live simply or in beautiful chaos? Clearly dependant on their personal style but more often than not, there are unique pieces and trinkets of history that often reflect the rich tapestry of their creative life. True for Alexander Ekman, an esteemed dancer and choreographer, his home has a richness to it that would seem as though the lights were dimmed and at centre stage, a glow that reflects the beauty of its subject.
Little corners around his home have simple vignettes that invite you to explore a little more, provoke on where and how a piece came to be. A dancer myself for 15 years, I imagine moments of solidarity while gliding my feet across the hardwood floor in perfect rhythm to Tchaikovsky.
